Google VS. Privacy

http://www.google.com/policies/
Google is going to be throwing away 60 different privacy policies across the board and replacing them with just one, shortened policy. This policy is said to be a lot easier to read and comprehend. It's going to cover several different features and applications in order to reflect their "desire to create one beautifully simple and intuitive experience across Google."
One major change in the policy is: " It makes clear, that if you have a Google account and are signed in, we may combine information you've provided from one service with information from other services." While Google claims this will help them treat you as a "single user" this could invade important areas of privacy. One of the main sources they'll be getting their information is from email. Google will be reading each and every one of YOUR emails that goes through the gmail service. Is this really how they should go about gathering information?
